Software Developer
European Molecular Biology Laboratory (Heidelberg, DE) is seeking for a talented software developer to join a startup-style interdisciplinary research team working at the one of the highest ranked research organisations at the interplay of big data crunching, image analysis, and bioinformatics.
Project: aims to create an open-source online engine for molecular annotation of big data from imaging mass spectrometry.
Successful candidate: would work with scientists on a cutting-edge research project, architect, design and implement the infrastructure and the engine, implement both the backend and frontend using big data tech, and deploy it onto HPC-infrastructure (10K nodes cluster, Amazon WS)
Required: analytical skills, experience in developing and delivering software products either in a company or in a comparable environment in academia
Assets: expertise in software engineering, modern big data technologies (MapReduce, Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, HBase), HPC, efficient algorithms, Python, JavaScript, image analysis, machine learning
