Postdoc positions in Big Data, Bioinformatics, Spatial Metabolomics

There are several positions for prospective postdocs interested in one of these fields: bioinformatics, machine learning, big data, imaging mass spectrometry, metabolomics.

Projects: Various projects are available from purely computational to combining boinformatics with work in a wet lab equipped with cutting-edge MALDI, LC-MS, and HR MS. Feel free to propose your project.

• Example project 1: Drug discovery with advanced light microscopy and imaging mass spectrometry, in collaboration with Cellzome, GSK, and Pepperkok team, EMBL.
• Example project 2: Bioinformatics for molecular annotation of imaging mass spectrometry data, with leading research groups in Europe and the US.
• Example project 3: Development / application of a `ili, a novel software tool for 2D and 3D spatial mapping of molecular data (github.com/ili-toolbox/ili).

Successful candidate: would work in a startup-style team uniting experts in bioinformatics, imaging mass spectrometry, metabolomics, and software development.

Where: The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world with the headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. The Alexandrov team develops novel bioinformatics to reveal spatial organisation of metabolic processes.

Duration: for up to 3 years.
